UK Law Firm AI Visibility by Region 2026
UK Law Firm AI Visibility by Region 2026
Firms were grouped into four regions for statistical credibility: London (182 firms), Midlands and Yorkshire (60), North West (52), and Rest of UK (33). Eight firms could not be mapped to a region and are excluded from this analysis.
Each firm was scored by the LegalVIS 5 Pillar Audit System, deduplicated to the most recent complete audit. Regional figures are unweighted averages of firm scores within each group.

Location is not the variable that matters
Every region clusters within 3.6 points of the others
It would be reasonable to expect London firms, with larger marketing budgets and bigger digital teams, to lead on AI readiness. They do not.
London sits third of four at 45.6, below the North West at 48.7 and Rest of UK at 47.2.
The practical reading is that AI visibility is not bought with scale or city presence. It is earned with structured signals, and no region has systematically implemented them.
North West leads at 48.7, Midlands and Yorkshire is lowest at 45.1
, a gap of just 3.6 points. London sits third despite the largest sample.
, yet that is still critically low. London scores lowest of all at 17.5. AI Discoverability has not been addressed anywhere in the UK.
Pillar 5 shows more regional variation than any other pillar.
Rest of UK leads at 38.6 while Midlands and Yorkshire trails at 33.6.
Regional firms are not at a disadvantage
In traditional search, a regional firm competes against national brands with far deeper link profiles. In AI search the entry requirements are structural: readable content, correct schema, named experts, and verifiable trust evidence. Those are achievable at any size.
A firm in Leeds or Manchester that implements the fundamentals will out-score most of London.
The data shows nobody has taken that ground yet.
Regional averages hide firm-level variation. Two firms in the same city can differ by more than 50 points on overall readiness.

About the researcher
“Law firms have spent years building acquisition channels through search, referrals and reputation. AI search is emerging as another route to new clients, and firms that start building their visibility early will be better placed as adoption continues to grow.”
