Trust Signals Across UK Law Firms

Trust signals are counted as structured, machine-readable instances detected during the audit crawl: testimonials, credentials, case studies and bios. A firm with unstructured content that a crawler cannot classify will score the same as a firm with none.

Trust signal band = the number of signal types with at least one detectable instance. Low = 0–1 types (75 firms), Medium = 2 types (120), High = 3–4 types (140). AI outcomes come from the 223 prompt-tested firms.

Average Trust Signal Counts Across UK Law Firms

Case studies are almost entirely absent, 79.1% of firms have none that a crawler can identify

335 firms · Average count of each trust signal type per firm

The average UK law firm has 7.21 testimonials, 3.79 bios, 1.90 credentials and just 0.75 indexed case study signals.

The case study gap is a labelling and structure problem as much as a content problem.

Average count and zero-signal rate per trust signal type

79.1% of firms have no detectable case study signals. 52.2% have no testimonials.

These are the two signals most likely to influence AI recommendation behaviour: demonstrated client outcomes and third-party endorsement.

295 firms have no visible review ratings from Google, Trustpilot or ReviewSolicitors.

Case studies are absent in 277 firms and third-party rankings in 222. Together these represent the external validation AI systems rely on for independent corroboration.

Firms with both testimonials and bios average 45.96 on Pillar 5, against 21.61 for firms with neither.

Having either signal lifts Pillar 5 by roughly 11 points. Having both lifts it by 24.
