AI Citation Visibility for Law Firms
LegalVIS helps law firms improve AI citation visibility by restructuring their expertise into clear, verifiable and AI-readable authority signals. Through structured solicitor profiles, firm-level source-of-truth pages, expert quote banks, LegalVIS WIRE commentary and the LegalGRAPH directory, we help legal expertise become easier for AI systems, journalists and prospective clients to find, understand and cite. Why AI citation visibility matters for law firms: AI systems do not return ten blue links. They return a single synthesised answer, and only the firms whose expertise is structured, verified and citable are included in that answer. A law firm can have exceptional expertise and still be invisible to AI systems if that expertise is not presented in a format AI can read, verify and cite. The LegalVIS 2026 UK Law Firm AI Visibility Benchmark assessed 335 UK law firms across 11,879 pages and ran 1,450 AI prompt tests. Key findings: 46.1 out of 100 sector average AI visibility score across 335 firms; 105 firms appear in fewer than 10% of AI responses; only 6 of 335 firms have Person schema implemented for individual lawyers; 51 firms appear consistently in more than 50% of AI responses; 32.2% of firms have zero schema markup of any kind. What AI citation visibility means in practice: AI citation visibility is the degree to which an AI system can find a law firm's expertise, verify it against structured sources, and include it in a generated response. It is not the same as Google rankings. A firm can rank on page one of Google and still be absent from every ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview response to a relevant legal question. The three conditions AI systems need before citing a law firm: 1 the expertise must be findable, structured, indexed and accessible to AI crawlers; 2 the expertise must be verifiable, cross-referenced against structured schema, directory listings and external citations; 3 the expertise must be citable, presented in a format AI systems can extract and quote directly.
