Question 1

Why is my law firm's website not showing up in ChatGPT?

Accepted Answer

There are three main reasons your firm is invisible to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews:

• Your expert commentary and articles are paywalled in legal publications, which means LLMs cannot see the content, or only see fragments of it. LegalVIS does not paywall expert content, so it remains fully readable and citable by AI systems.

• Your messaging is inconsistent across their website, directory listings, LinkedIn and bios and across the web, so LLMs cannot work out what the firm is specifically known for. The positioning is too broad, and AI systems default to better-defined competitors.

• Your website is not optimised for AI search and is built for human browsing. The schema is not in place and the site is not structured as machine-readable data for AI systems to parse and recommend your services.

Question 2

How do I get my firm recommended by ChatGPT?

Accepted Answer

Once you understand why you are invisible, the fix is to give AI systems something they can actually read, verify and cite. That means three things working together. First, a Source of Truth profile that consolidates your practice areas, jurisdictions, qualifications and matter experience into one canonical, structured reference AI systems can parse. Second, a presence inside The legalGRAPH so your firm exists as a verified entity in a structured legal knowledge graph, not as scattered fragments AI has to guess at. Third, a citation footprint of published commentary, quotes and references in the legalVIS WIRE and external publications, which is what AI systems use to confirm authority. LegalVIS is the infrastructure that delivers all three.

Question 3

Why does AI visibility matter for law firms now?

Accepted Answer

Clients, journalists and other solicitors are increasingly turning to AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews to recommend lawyers, explain legal questions and shortlist firms. These systems don't return ten blue links. They return a single synthesised answer, and only the firms structured to be parsed and cited are part of that answer. Traditional SEO was built for keyword search, where ranking on page one mattered. AI retrieval works differently: it pulls from structured data, knowledge graphs and authoritative sources to compose responses. Most law firm websites haven't been built for this, which means high-quality expertise sits invisible to the systems clients are now using to find legal help.

Question 4

Is LegalVIS a directory, a PR platform, an SEO agency or an AI search agency?

Accepted Answer

LegalVIS is AI visibility infrastructure for law firms.

The Legal Graph is a knowledge graph, not a directory. It structures your expertise so AI systems can read and cite you, and so journalists can search for you when they need expert commentary.

The legalVIS WIRE is your platform to publish. Turn your expertise into articles that reach clients, journalists and AI systems. That's PR, owned by you.

The 5 Pillar System™ is our proprietary AI search optimisation audit. It unravels your Source of Truth, makes sense of your website and fixes your structural content. Delivered as a one-off setup, followed by no-contract retainer work to continue your site's GEO optimisation.

Question 5

What actually is a Source of Truth profile?

Accepted Answer

Your Source of Truth is a single, authoritative profile that consolidates everything that proves your expertise into one canonical reference: practice areas, matter types, jurisdictions, qualifications, articles, media coverage, citations and commentary. It's structured so AI systems can read it as the definitive source on your firm, rather than piecing together fragments from a website here, a directory listing there, and a LinkedIn bio somewhere else. When AI systems describe or recommend you, they pull from one accurate, structured profile instead of guessing from inconsistent web data.

Question 6

What is The legalGRAPH?

Accepted Answer

The legalGRAPH is our proprietary legal knowledge graph: a structured map of solicitors, firms, expertise areas, jurisdictions, matter types and citations, all interlinked. It's built on the architectural principles AI systems use to verify entities and rank authority. Your firm becomes a structured, machine-readable node inside it, which is the format AI systems are designed to parse. Traditional legal directories were built for people browsing the web. The Legal Graph is built for AI systems answering questions.

Question 7

How is LegalVIS different from a legal directory?

Accepted Answer

LegalVIS is not a directory. It is citation infrastructure. Two things make it different. First, it is a search engine for journalists and online publishers to find verified legal experts, source quotes and cite commentary with full attribution back to the expert. Directories are designed for clients browsing for a lawyer. LegalVIS is designed for the people who write the articles, reports and analyses that AI systems learn from. Second, it is a structured knowledge graph. Every solicitor, firm, practice area, jurisdiction, matter type, article, quote and citation is modelled as an interlinked entity and exposed using Schema.org and JSON-LD, the structured data formats that AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews are built to parse. Your Source of Truth profile, The legalGRAPH and the legalVIS WIRE work together as one machine-readable layer, so when AI systems describe legal expertise they pull from a verified, structured source rather than guessing from scattered web pages.

Question 8

Do I need to rebuild my website?

Accepted Answer

No. We audit your existing website's structure, content and information architecture, then fix the issues that stop AI from understanding your expertise. No rebuild, no migration, no new CMS. We work with the website you already have, identifying where structural and positioning problems are blocking AI comprehension and resolving them in place. This typically takes four to six weeks depending on the size of the firm, the state of your existing site and the communication flow between us and your team.

Question 9

How does LegalVIS get me cited by the media?

Accepted Answer

Through the legalVIS WIRE, our editorial publication covering legal industry insight and commentary across jurisdictions, plus a network of verified journalists who use the platform to source expert commentary. Members can publish commentary into a quote bank that journalists search, respond to bespoke quote requests, and accept interview requests directly through the platform. Because the legalVIS WIRE and your Source of Truth profile are both openly accessible to AI systems, your media contributions become part of the citation infrastructure AI uses to identify legal experts.

Question 10

What's the difference between a quote, a reference and a quote bank entry?

Accepted Answer

These are three states of expert commentary on the platform. A quote bank entry is a piece of expert commentary you've published proactively for journalists to discover and use. A bespoke quote is one you've written in direct response to a specific journalist request. A reference is when your expertise or commentary is cited by a journalist in a published piece, with attribution back to your profile. Each state contributes differently to your visibility and citation footprint.

Question 11

How is my Authority Score calculated?

Accepted Answer

Your Authority Score is a 0 to 100 metric that reflects what actually moves the needle: recent activity and citation velocity, published commentary and articles, verification status and editorial standing, and the quality of your engagement on the platform. Signals decay over time, so sustained activity matters more than one-off bursts. Authority Score is available on paid tiers.

Question 12

What does the platform track for me?

Accepted Answer

The platform tracks citations across both the legalVIS WIRE and external publications, profile views, quote usage by journalists, interview and bespoke quote request engagement, and firm-wide aggregate metrics if you're on a firm plan. You'll see this in your dashboard, giving you visibility into how your expertise is being discovered, used and cited over time.

Question 13

How are external citations counted?

Accepted Answer

External citations (mentions in publications outside the legalVIS WIRE) are tracked across four usage types: stored quote bank pickup, bespoke quote response, editorial reference, and direct interview citation. Members add external citations to their profile and the platform verifies them, contributing to your overall citation footprint and Authority Score.

Question 14

What is the Platform Leaderboard?

Accepted Answer

The Platform Leaderboard is a public, real-time ranking of the most authoritative experts and firms on LegalVIS. It has two views: an Individual leaderboard ranking solicitors by Authority Score, and a Firm leaderboard ranking organisations by aggregated firm-wide performance. Every member, including free Essential accounts, is visible on the leaderboard, but only paid tiers earn an Authority Score, which is what determines ranking position. The leaderboard gives clients, journalists and peers an at-a-glance view of who is leading in each practice area, and gives members a transparent benchmark for how their visibility compares across the platform.

Question 15

What does LegalVIS Verified mean?

Accepted Answer

LegalVIS operates a two-tier verification model. LegalVIS Member status confirms identity and regulator standing with the relevant legal authority in the member's jurisdiction (for example the SRA in England and Wales, the Law Society of Ireland, or a US State Bar), establishing baseline trust. LegalVIS Verified is a deeper editorial standing tier, indicating the member has demonstrated published expertise, citation history and editorial credibility. Journalists are verified separately through their own credentialing process, which gates their access to the quote bank and member contact features.

Question 16

Who can see my quotes and contact me?

Accepted Answer

Your quote bank entries are gated to verified journalists only, ensuring your published commentary is accessed by legitimate media professionals rather than scraped or misused. Bespoke quote requests and interview requests come through the platform with full journalist verification. You retain control over what's published, who can contact you, and which requests you respond to.

Question 17

What's included free vs paid?

Accepted Answer

The Free Individual tier gives you a Source of Truth profile in The LegalGRAPH structured to be discovered by AI systems, 1 Expert Asset (article, podcast or video) as proof of expertise for LLMs to trust you, 3 Expert Quotes ready for citation by the media, and inclusion in the journalist search engine. The Free Firm tier gives your firm a Source of Truth in The LegalGRAPH plus up to 3 team members, each with their own profile, 1 Expert Asset and 3 Expert Quotes, with the firm and team included in the journalist search engine. Paid Individual is £495 per month and adds unlimited Expert Assets and Quotes, Authority scoring, priority placement and editorial citations in the legalVIS WIRE. Paid Firm is £395 per seat per month (saving £100/seat vs Paid Individual), adding firm-wide aggregate analytics, leaderboards, journalist intelligence and team management. Founding members onboarded during the launch phase receive reduced pricing. Email us at hello@legalvis.ai to apply.
